Kudos to Joe the Plummer and to every hard working American Citizen. Whether you "turn a wrench", stay at home with your kids, are unable to "work" due to legitimate medical issues, and/or put in your 40+ hours per week you are deserving of respect/admiration.
However, it is APPALLING that anyone would try to minimize the very REAL scenarios of people who may work for an employer now...but want someday to own the Company. Or, for those who employee others and make OVER $ 250,000.00 per year in income. Why is it that a "person", whether they are running for President or not, gets to determine WHO is "rich" and/or how much they are going to "take" from the "rich"?
I have a FUNDAMENTAL POINT to make and that is that anyone who believes that 95% of Americans will get a tax break are just kidding themselves. It will NEVER happen...period. Secondly, what you GROSS (in income) is important but what is just as important is your NET as well as your "income versus expenses". How many MULTI-MILLION dollar companies have gone BANKRUPT over the years? The answer is LOTS because their EXPENSES/LIABILITIES exceed their income.
This Election should be about the TRUTH. When the 2006 Democratic Congress got elected they said they would "clean up the swamp, end the war, lower gas prices, etc.". The truth is that they have FAILED...miserably. Hillary Clinton, when they chose the part of New York to move to for her to be elected a Senator, promised "200,00 NEW good income jobs". Guess what? They LOST jobs. Her response "I thought Kerry would be in office".
Politicians, like Attorneys, get paid LOTS of money saying things that (a) are not true (b) allow them to get paid (c) they don't live up to and/or (d) get you to say YES and then give you lot's of "reasons" why they could not deliver. Yet, the Democratic "ticket" this year is made up of TWO Attorneys....WOW!
Back to Joe the "Plummer" the fact is that he asked a QUESTION (oh how terrible) of Obama. Obama, not being able to read from a teleprompter and/or check with his "300 advisors" gave a "spread the wealth" answer. I have reviewed Obama's, and Biden's, tax returns and they are NOT "spreading the wealth". They want to spread YOUR wealth, to organizations that they get to "pick and choose", and this is a FUNDAMENTAL position of theirs.
If history has taught us ANYTHING it should be to NEVER "believe the hype" (see "new Coke" for a history lesson) and we should CHECK THE RECORD versus the RHETORIC before we cast our "ever more important vote". As AMERICAN CITIZENS we should demand MORE while enforcing our rights. Anything less would be....less.
Nuff said.
